Pearls, minerals and gemstones should not come into contact with water, cosmetics or sweat - over time they will wear out more. I recommend removing all jewellery when doing sports, sleeping or other strenuous activities to extend their lifespan. The exception is all-metal jewellery made of steel without stones or pearls.
